Beach blanket bridal party bingo!

I thought I would share another one of my favorites, this one is from Long Beach Island, one of my favorite places in the world by the way, at the Gables Bed and Breakfast. It’s a renovated Victorian themed B&B which has a charm that relates, in my mind at least, to a more aristocratic vibe from a Victorian era, where going down to the shore still involved fully covering the body while bathing, and I can’t get out of my head the images of men in striped bathing suits. However, Iann and Joann each decided this would be the place to come back from their digs in L.A. to tie the knot. Family from the region, and friends flying in made this so much fun. The butterflies were out, and the next door neighbor who owns the bagel shop next to the Gables, let me hang out, and over-literally, his upstairs porch to get some of the more interesting angles I’ve gotten in a very long time.  The couple wanted a more casual feel and went to such lengths to make all their guests feel the great family gathering sensation. Really were it not for the ceremony, this would have been remembered as a kick ass party and a lot of fun by the water.

Just a brief passing shower doused the streets and dropped the temperature a bit. Then we headed up to the beach to take some pictures…”just us” Joan whispered earlier, but this is where I spent my summers as a kid, so I knew that the California crowd would appreciate a true beach blanket bridal party bingo…….er, or something like that. So the bridal party got the 411 to give me about 15 minutes with the Bride and Groom alone, and then to bring up the rear. I’m not exactly sure if you are allowed to go up on the lifeguard stand, but at last count, we didn’t lose anybody!

Thanks again to The Gables, and Iann and Joann.
