I met Meaghan at the Baltimore Bridal show back last August. She was as overwhelmed as any other bride to be
as there might be at one of these shows. All things wedding, all screaming for the attention that anybody would find overwhelming. I personally prefer the talking approach. Me, I’m a talker, and I like to hear about the brides and grooms, find out about what makes their relationship special. I know there are the cynics who say that they are all the same. I can only point out that, no, they are not. As 12 noon today is different from 12 noon yesterday, so are my clients, and any other photographers clients. Meaghan received a gift certificate for an engagement session which she, her fiance Tim and I, did in Baltimore, starting in Canton, working our way down to Harbor East, and Fells Point. Tim started out a bit shy, but he melts when looking at Meaghan, all giant warm smiles, and all directed to him. I know, I know, I’m doing a whole love story here, but it is their story, and what makes each wedding, and person special is just a moment of time and attention to them. It turns a stranger into a friend, and it invests you in a relationship with people who were unknown to you hours before. A great session which created one of my favorite pictures in front of Cake Love, at least I think where Cake Love used to be, I think that store has shut down on Boston Street.
Ah well, the wedding was wonderful, any groom who tears up seeing his bride will always have a special place in my heart, I know if I ever see my Venus in a wedding dress, I will be a mess, Tim apparently is the emotional type, and as confided in me by Meaghan a couple of days later, was at the center of a pool of when the tears would come. Meaghan thought it would be just standing there. I’m here to report that Tim stood his ground until she made her appearance, simply dazzling to say the least, but at that point all restraint was lost. A man who will show his tears to his friends will always tell the truth to strangers. A terrifically photogenic family pulled together a little twist in our formals schedule and a ready to do it all group of bridesmaids, groomsmen, and family really helped seal the evening.
