The Fourth of July in Inner Harbour

Roshan and Mustafah, I’ve been taking their pictures for the better part of a year, pictures of their first engagement session, pictures of the maternity, Nasir’s first pictures, another engagement session, and finally, the wedding.

I’ve spent so much time with them, that I see them as friends, which isn’t to suggest all my clients and I don’t get along, but some clients I interact with much more often, so I become more involved in their lives, I know their families, I know their moods, much more than I would if I just show up, stranger with a camera and tell them to act naturally.  Big thanks to my associate Kelly Williams for all the help and great images she got as well as the people at the Renaissance Hotel in Baltimore, and Vaneisha Brown, we definitely made an impression out in the middle of Inner Harbor.

I will always tell people that I still cry at weddings, not all, but there are moments so poignant and personal that it’s impossible not to be moved.  Jamaal’s toast to Mustafah and Roshan (yes Roshan, he’s a handful!) was as sweet and as poignant as Khosi’s-who is quite possibly still tearing up!  To be allowed, to be present when people express such heartfelt sentiment, anyone will be moved by the emotions. I am, as always, privileged to be there, and to see the first fireworks in Nasir’s eyes as he shares them with his mother. The moment was marked, the moment now lives past the assembled memories of those present. It’s not self indulgence to be a fan of human generosity, and warmth, it is these moments that I hope everyone shares, whether on this blog, or somewhere in their own lives.

Enjoy!

It was indeed a beautiful wedding – beautiful bride, handsome groom, a great setting. I sincerely regret having missed it, albeit unavoidable. Thank you so much for posting these great pictures rendering those of us who had to miss the event a fantastic opportunity to at least share the memories… Congratulations to bride and groom.

Inquan des yalachihu Messelu and Elias.

Good Job Messelu!!!
